In this course i gained a lot of knowledge. All my life i
had english class but it was specially gramar. In this class i learned about
literary terms and how every story, movie, poem, writing, etc, in the world has
more than 2 of them. I liked that we got very Deep into the stories and movies
in stead of just Reading them or watching them. It helped me to pay attention
and really reflect them. I also liked a lot the environment of the classroom.
There were a lot of good vibes and i felt very comfortable with my classmates.
I think this class can help me personally to involve myself in more books
because i don’t really like to read, and professionally, to concéntrate and
focus in only one thing at the time. Also if you don’t understand something, do
not let it go, try to understand it by Reading, watchin, or listening again. I
really wanna thank my teacher for this semester, it was a pleasure being your
student.

Symbolism in "The Village"
The film “The
Village” is about a village whose people live in fear of creatures that live in
the woods beyond it. The elders of the village didn’t let the people pass
through the woodsIn the movie, we can find a lot of use of symbolism. An
example could be the colors. This movie deals with colors a lot, but especially
yellow and red. Yellow in the film symbolizes innocence. If you notice, none of
the elders ever wear the safe color, only the younger ones do. They are never
seen wearing yellow because they are not innocent. The elders try to avoid sin
and sorrow, but by doing so become sinful themselves. There are moments when
certain characters lose their innocence, and to represent this they are covered
in red.
Another example of symbolism in this movie is Ivy’s blindness. Ivy symbolizes the fact that the elders keep the villagers in the dark about the real world. She can see a few colors, she sees a color when she sees Luicious and her father. I think she sees yellow when she sees Lucious because he is innocent and red when she sees her father because he is not. The monsters are another example because they are called “those we don’t speak of,” representing the secrets the elders don’t speak of. The elders have become monsters by trying to hide from sin and the black boxes they each keep in their house represent their inner demons as well as their inner secrets. The movie has a very twisted ending when the truth comes out and the elders are the ones who are the monsters.
